02/09/2008 - Fry's U9 Pre-Season Tournament 30/8/08

The 7-a-side competition consisted of 2 Goups each containing 6 teams with a maximum squad of 10 players per team.

We had one team entered who were placed in Group 2 alongside Mangotsfield A, Bradley Stoke B, Ashton Boys B, Longwell Green B and Whitchurch Sports A.

The team won 3 and drew 2 of their group games (scoring 10 goals and conceeding 0) and finished 2nd in the Group behind Mangotsfield A who also remained unbeaten.

After beating Longwell Green A 2-0 in the Quarter-Final we were beaten 3-0 in the Semi-Final by Ashton Boys A who went on to win the competition.

Overall there were some excellent performances and this should all bode well for the Hanham Minor League season that starts on the 7th September 2008.

12/08/2008 - U8's Season 2007-8

The 2007-8 season was a successful one for the under 8's with 24 matches being played 19 of which were won, 2 drawn and only 3 overall defeats.

In all the teams scored 178 goals with Liam Towler being leading scorer with 45 goals followed by Ben Alexander on 25.

Morgan Wager led the way with 8 Man of the Match Awards and he and Brad Lewis received Managers Players of the Year awards at the club presentation on 16th May 2008.

Other presentations went to the following:-

Players Players:- Kameron Brown, Liam Towler

Parents Players:- George Cole, Nathan Hewitt

Most Improved Players:- Tom Evans, Nathan Hewitt

Clubman:- Kit Panee

The team also embarked on its first tour through R & T Tour Operators by travelling to Weymouth between the 2nd and 5th May 2008.

The team played against 5 teams from different parts of the country and ended up in 3rd position despite not losing any of their matches and only conceeding 1 goal. Unfortunately we did not have our shooting boots as we won only 1 game and drew the other 4 despite in the main being the better side.

A special thanks must go to Nick + Vicky Brown, Jason Kirby, Roy Ball, Paul Trueman and all of the parents who have helped to enable this season to be so successful
