Today's matches against Brislington saw a close encounter with Rovers coming away with a 2-1 overall victory.
The first game saw Rovers start well and have most of the play but they did not create a chance until the 10th minute when Ben O'Brien had his shot saved. The game continued with defences on top but Rovers did eventually break the deadlock in the 17th minute when Aaron Mansfield fired the ball into the roof of the net after cutting in from the right. Just before half time the same player ran nearly the length of the pitch following a good tackle but saw his shot well saved so Rovers went in 1 up at half time.
The second half started with Brislington having a chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty but Samuel Johnson in the Rovers goal pulled off an excellent save to maintain Rovers lead. Only a few minutes later Rovers themselves were awarded a penalty but Mansfield put his shot over the bar. Rovers continued to create a few chances but were let down by bad finishing until the 37th minute when George Cole finished off a good move by scoring from just inside the box to double Rovers lead which they held for the final few minutes.
The second game started with Brislington playing some good football and being much quicker around the field than Rovers. Despite this though they only created one clear chance which was well saved by Ryan Rowe. At the other end Brislington's goalkeeper also had little to do in the first half other than one save from a Ben Alexander shot so the sides went in all square at half time.
Rovers created a couple of chances in the first few minutes of the second half with Ricky Kirby having a shot saved only for the rebound to be put wide by Alexander and Nathan Hewitt seeing his header from Kirby's corner go over the bar. In the 26th minute though Brislington took the lead with a shot from close range following a quickly taken throw in that caught the Rovers defence napping. A minute later Rowe brought off another good save to maintain Rovers overall lead. Brislington continued to press for an equalising goal but Rovers held on to seal their victory.
