Rovers lost their 100% league record when they were beaten by a very determined Ashton Boys side.
The first game though saw Rovers get off to an excellent start when in the 2nd minute Aaron Mansfield's low corner was driven into the net from close range by Brad Lewis. Following this early strike though Ashton started to get back into the game not only through their own determination but by poor play from Rovers who seemed to give the ball away very easily and they scored an equaliser with a close range effort in the 10th minute. This seemed to spark some life into Rovers and they started to play some good football which resulted in them restoring their lead when a pass from Lewis to Mansfield saw the latter find the corner of the net with a low shot from outside the box. With George Cole and Nathan Hewitt taking control of the midfield Rovers created more chances before the break but Mansfield and Lewis both saw their shots go wide or be saved by the Ashton goalkeeper.
The second half again saw Mansfield have a good shot saved before in the 25th minute an excellent run by Cole saw his pass hit first time into the corner of the net from the edge of the box by Lewis to give Rovers a 3-1 lead. Ashton though are a side that will never give up and they reduced the lead in the 31st minute when a cross from the right went into the net off of the unfortunate Kameron Brown. Shortly afterwards Mansfield had another shot tipped over the bar only for Ashton to equalise a minute later with a shot from distance. In the last minute of the game Ben O'Brien had a chance to give Rovers a victory but his header from a corner went just over so the match finished as a 3-3 draw.
The first half of the second game produced quite an even contest with little to write about as neither side were able to create many chances. Rovers inability to create chances was mainly down to an unusual lack of control and composure on the ball when going forward although Ben Alexander was unlucky with their one chance of the half when his shot was well saved only for the rebound to be put wide by Danny Ball. Despite Rovers defence of Arthur Hawkins and Morgan Wager not looking in too much trouble Ashton took the lead in the 10th minute when a free kick from just inside Rovers half saw the ball go through a crowd of players and find the far corner of the net.
The second half started with Ethan Malschuk replacing Ryan Rowe in goal to play his first game of the season following injury and he produced a very assured performance. Wager was moved to midfield and he saw his shot go wide early in the second half but again Rovers play became scrappy and sometimes very lethargic and they did not create a further shot at goal until the 33rd minute when Alexander saw an excellent effort from the left strike the post and bounce along the goal line before being cleared. Ashton though cemented their victory with a second goal in the 37th minute when a mistake from a Rovers goal kick saw the ball lobbed over the stranded Malschuk into the top of the net.
Kameron Brown in the first and Arthur Hawkins in the second were named Man of the Matches for their strong defensive performances.
