Despite the very windy conditions both sides attempted to play football and produced two keenly contested games.

The first game saw Rovers trying to play football out from defence but were unable to create any real chances as it was difficult to pass the ball accurately playing against the strong wind. City played with the elements in the first half and apart from one shot that struck the post Bradley Davies in the Rovers goal was only called upon to make one save which he did so on the stroke of half time. This was mainly down to a strong defensive performance by the Rovers team in particular from Kameron Brown who was very strong in the tackle.

The second half started with Rovers pushing forward and they took the lead in the 22^nd minute when a throw found Man of the Match Nathan Hewitt and he drove the ball home off of the underside of the bar. The game continued to be quite even with Brown coming forward from defence to see one long range shot pushed over for a corner and a second go just wide. In the last minute of the game Conor Harris was also unlucky to see his shot pushed wide and from the resulting corner Hewitt brought an excellent save out of the City goalkeeper from his close range header. So the game ended with a 1-0 victory to Rovers.

The second game again started with City playing with the wind at their backs and they enjoyed most of the play but were unable to break down a strong Rovers defence which was superbly led by Man of the Match Morgan Wager. Again Ryan Rowe in the Rovers goal was only called upon to make one save when he dealt comfortably with a long range shot that bounced in front of him. Rovers themselves created a couple of chances on the break but Aaron Mansfield saw his shot go across the box to safety and Danny Ball saw his deflected over.

Rovers applied the pressure at the start of the second half with Bradley Lewis breaking through from midfield only to see his shot pushed wide and a second effort from him strike the post before being cleared. From the resulting corner Ball saw his header pushed to safety. Rovers continued to have the better of the game and eventually opened the scoring in the 34^th minute when Mansfield's corner was volleyed home by Ball. Only a couple of minutes later Mansfield increased Rovers lead when he beat the last defender and scored with a driven shot into the corner of the net. Rovers scored their third goal in the 38^th minute when Ricky Kirby produced a similar finish to Mansfield's when put through on goal. A lapse in concentration though saw City score in the last minute but this was not sufficient to stop a 3-1 defeat.
